Poland will transfer both Western Leopard 2 tanks and upgraded T-72s to Ukraine. In the neighboring country, they hope that this equipment will be handed over within a month or two.
As President of Poland Andrzej Duda said in an interview with Ukrinform , he considers this term quite real:
“I think that this period is absolutely realistic, given the duration of the training course on the integrated maintenance of Leopard tanks, which the Ukrainian military is currently taking in Sventoszow (a training ground in Poland – UNIAN.)”.
According to the Polish president, Ukrainian fighters are now training at a tank training ground in his country, and they are also being taught how to operate the Leopard 2.
Duda says that he very much hopes that it will be possible to provide such assistance to Ukraine within the time frame indicated above.
Tanks from Poland
Poland plans to send Ukraine 60 modernized T-72 and PT-91 Twardy tanks, as well as 14 German Leopard tanks.
Polish President Andrzej Duda was the first to announce the transfer of Leopard tanks to Ukraine. Also in Poland they want to halve the training time for Ukrainian tankers on the Leopard .
Earlier, the Polish Ministry of Defense announced that Poland would provide the first German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine in March.
On January 25, Germany officially agreed to transfer 14 Leopard 2 units to Ukraine and allowed other countries to re-export these tanks.
