Turkey, as a candidate for joining the European Union, should not offer Russia various ways to circumvent sanctions.
In addition, the country must coordinate its policy with Brussels.
This became known from the words of the official representative of the head of Eurodiplomacy Josep Borrell Peter Stano, Izvestia reported.
According to him, Turkey is an important partner of the European Union, and also has the status of a candidate for EU membership.
Therefore, Stano emphasizes that the country must coordinate the conduct of its foreign policy with the European Union.
This also applies to the policy of imposing sanctions. Türkiye should not help the Russian Federation circumvent the imposed sanctions.
Peter Stano also said that the EU will continue to monitor the situation in this matter.
Recall that after the start of a special military operation, the countries of the European Union imposed unprecedented sanctions against Russia.
However, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his state would not support this course and impose sanctions against the Russian Federation.
