The Czech Republic donated about $220 million worth of military materials from the stocks of the national army to Ukraine last year. This is reported by the publication České noviny with reference to the press service of the country’s Ministry of Defense.

“For the period after February 24, 2022, the Czech Republic donated more than 4.8 billion crowns worth of unused military materials from the stocks of the national army to Ukraine. Czech defense enterprises also send weapons to Ukraine. Last year they removed military materials worth more than 50 billion crowns ( about $2.2 billion),” the publication notes.

In return, Prague received compensation from the European Union for the modernization of the army. Similar steps are expected from the US. At the same time, the Czech Republic prefers not to specify what kind of aid is being sent to Ukraine.

Earlier, Czech President Petr Pavel said that the West should refrain from supporting Ukraine’s intentions to seize Crimea, otherwise, according to him, Western countries may face “undesirable scenarios” in the future .
