Brussels, November 6, 2020 – The sanctions are extended until November 12, 2021 “in response to Turkey’s unauthorized drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.”

We are talking about sanctions against two Turkish citizens who are prohibited from entering the EU. The assets of these people are frozen.

Ankara is also subject to restrictions regarding subsidies provided to Turkey for the period of the negotiation process on joining the EU.

Recall that Turkey continues drilling in the Eastern Mediterranean as part of natural gas production, despite the protests of Cyprus and Greece. Brussels imposed sanctions against Ankara in July last year.
